I need longer hair!?

I'm an African American girl. My hair is close to my shoulders. I don't understand my hair because it doesn't seem to be growing at all. It hasn't broken off or anything.

I get a relaxer once a month or every six weeks. Could that have something to do with it? If so, how else can I get my hair straight or atleast manageable? Straightner seems like a bad idea because of the heat.

I rarely use heat on my hair. But I admit I need to wash it more. I don't do it close to once a week. My Mom won't let me blow dry my hair so when I wash it, it gets huge. I can't go out in public. But isn't reframing from using heat a good thing?

I just don't get it. I wrap my hair at night and it gets trimmed regularly. I drink a ton of water. Like at least five bottles. I take flinstone vitamins, calcium chewables, biotin pills, and prenatal pills.

So if anyone might have the slightest idea of what could be wrong with me, please share. It would be greatly appreciated.

Your hair is breaking off just a little at a time so its not that noticeable. I have the same problem and I am a white girl, with bone straight hair. Its good you don't blow dry but you should also stop relaxing it for a while. instead use a flat iron once or twice a week, and only wash it between straightens. When you wash it use Pantene or I like Maine and Tail it makes your hair grow stronger ( its really for Horses but they sell it in rite aid. And its relatively cheap. make sure you only brush it when dry and try a good Placenta hair mask once a month and I guarantee you your hair will be a couple inches longer in a few months.

Even taking vitamins might not help your hair. If your ends are fried or split, then they won't be able to hold moisture. I suggest that you get your ends cut, get some layers to downsize any poofiness, and try to give your hair some more time between relaxers. If it starts to get a little wavy or curly, don't stress, but take advantage of them. I personally think that curls and waves are gorgeous. As for additional dryness, I myself have curly hair, and I shampoo every other time I take a shower, and once a month, I mix two eggs with deep conditioner and comb it through in the shower then wash it out. You can't smell the eggs, and it makes my hair shiny.
