I want a new look for school, any suggestions?

im half african american, my hair goes about down to my chest. Its not really styled. I want a new look for school, any suggestions? Well I dont want anything too drastic. I cant dye my hair.. But its naturally really dark and frizzes easily. Im going to get it straightened but it costs a lot of money and it doesnt last forever. Plus I live in maine so I have to travel 2 and a half hour to get to a hairstylist that does african american hair. I need help

Wow - best of luck! You may want to just loosen the curls instead of straightening them all together that way you can use gel and your hair would just look somewhat curly - not too curly. For frizz - try coconut oil - put it on after you get out of the shower and while your hair is still damp (not soaking wet) it should help! :-)

i have alot of african american friends and they dont strighten it you could put it in a high ponytail or braid it in a unique style and looking different for school could also inculde changing your clothes maybe spice up your wardrobe

Awwwwweeee Dacy, I feel for you. I have a niece who is Mulatto. I put a perm on her hair and a lil oil while it was wet. Let it air dry by combing it down sorta in the style she wanted and then bumped it with the golden hots curling iron to give it body and shine. I think that her mom used to take her to JCPenney salon. You just need a relaxer. And get a haircut that matches your facial structure. Add some highlights what's the deal ?? After of course you have had the perm/relaxer for two to three weeks. Go to an African american salon if you are scared.

I am totally jealous! My hair is about the same length and straight as a lasor! I would love it to curl up and be more "alive"! But noooooo, it just hangs there like roofing for my head! Perms do not last more than a couple of weeks and I can't sleep with curlers. I would love to trade hair with you!

What about fringe just around front. You know where thye part your hair just in front of the ear and start between the chin and shoulder and cut in an angle from there down.If you only do that area it can be style in the front or brushed back and blended in with the rest of your hair.

step cut hair look very nice, u can have 4 steps, they really give a cool look, and they suit all types of faces and complexions. best of luck! u need not straighten ur hair, just apply gel and comb them nicely. french knots look very nice on curly hair, or u can try ponies.
