What makes certain hair change chemically after it gets wet?

For example.

I'm African American and have coarse hair that frizzes up after I get it wet.

My best friend who is Caucasian has curly/sleek hair that she can get wet and either brush it out or let it dry without it changing. Why is that?

What are the chamical differences between our hair?

people with straight hair... if you cut a piece and look at the cross section in a microscope, their hair is round. liek a perfect O. People with curly hair have oval-shaped hair, and our hair will take on a wavy texture. thats why ours is curly. why our hair is like that, its just genetics and apart of our race/genetics/features.

Well having different ethnic backgrounds comes along with many different types of hair. Your hair has its own reaction to the elements.

it's just genetics ! i'm caucasian, and i worked at an african american salon, i just was so suprised at how soft black hair is! i was touching black hair, and they were touching mine ! i really like working with different textures........just be happy with your hair!, trust me, sometimes i get so tired of shampooing my hair everyday, it's long and mostly it takes 6 -7 hrs. to dry naturally, but, i would love for my hair to be as soft as yours !!!....stylist
