Flat iron does not get all the way to the roots especially around the hair line area. Try using a pressing comb.

Get yourself a good heat protectant and a good flat iron with temp control. Make sure the heat protectant doesn't have alcohol in it. It would be even better if you just left your hair natural.

Check out a dominican beauty salon. They use this cream that is like a relaxer but without such harsh chemicals and blow out the hair.

Go to a good dominican salon. Let them wash and blow dry your hair. It will be straight and will last for a while. Youcan not go to them often though because they use high levels of heat with the blow dryer. You have thick hair so it will be ok. Or try getting a really good deep conditioner like organic root stimulator olive oil packets and a real good ceramic flat iron. This should do the trick!!! Good Luck!!!
